Level2 Member John: ‘It Was Simple’

John’s Level2 Story

When John first heard about Level2 Specialty Care, he didn’t expect his life would change in such a big way. But 13 months after joining Level2, he’s down 128 pounds and living a life he never thought was possible.

“I just needed to make the change, and that’s what it’s been about,” John shared. “Life is so much better right now than it was 13 months ago.”

John lives in the Chicago suburbs with his wife of 23 years and their daughter, a nursing student at the University of Iowa. Between family trips to Europe and weekend bike rides, he’s rediscovered the joy of movement — and the power of sustainable habits.

“I enjoy working in the yard even more now because I am 128 pounds less than I was last year,” he stated.

Before joining Level2, everyday activities like yard work and climbing stairs left John winded and aching. Now, he’s outside more often, tending to his lawn and vegetable garden with energy and ease.

“The last A1C I did this spring was all the way down to 5.6,” he says.

By reducing his A1C from 8.3 to 5.6, he has improved his type 2 diabetes and now has blood glucose levels in a healthy range.

What drew John to Level2? How easy it was to get started.

“It was simple. I spoke with someone on the Level2 team and right away they sent out my continous glucose monitor (CGM). It was just so simple to begin,” John said.

After hearing about Level2 through work, he made the call, received his CGM, and began tracking his glucose within days.

“The CGM has allowed me to experiment and see how different foods impact my body,” he shared.

John uses his CGM daily, sharing that it’s helped him understand how foods like yogurt, eggs, and sweeteners affect his glucose, allowing him to make smarter choices.

“Lifestyle is the biggest result for me. Beyond just the A1C,” he adds.

His proudest achievement is reclaiming his lifestyle.

This summer, John and his daughter enjoyed long bike rides together, which is something he hadn’t done in years. “We’d go 10 or 11 miles, stop for breakfast, enjoy some time together, and bike back,” he says.

John credits his coach for helping him build sustainable habits. “I’m a person who likes to connect,” he states. “She adapted to me. We talk on the phone and chat in the app. She keeps me accountable.”

“The coaches having your back, you have data with the CGM and the accountability so that you can keep going,” he shared.

John’s story is a testament to what’s possible with the right tools and support. His journey with Level2 is one of transformation, sustainability, and joy.

“What I’m doing with Level2 is something I can stick with,” he says.
